Ankita, the visionary behind Ankitam International, began her journey working with the Embassy of Italy—where global trade, culture, and diplomacy shaped her worldview. But her heart always belonged to entrepreneurship. She saw a gap: India’s extraordinary craftsmanship wasn’t reaching the right hands across the world. So she took a leap.
What drives her? The joy of bringing India’s rich artistry to life, and the satisfaction of knowing every client gets exactly what they envision—crafted with soul, precision, and purpose. Ankita’s journey is not just about exports—it’s about elevating Indian craft on the global stage, one beautiful piece at a time.
India is home to one of the world’s most diverse and rich reserves of natural stones—ranging from marble and granite to limestone, quartz, and the iconic Pallava stone. With a history of stone carving and construction dating back to 3200 BC, this craft is deeply woven into the cultural fabric of the country.
At Ankitam International, we carry forward this ancient legacy by creating a wide variety of handcrafted artifacts. Our work spans across multiple types of stones including marble, soapstone, Banswada stone, Makrana marble, and many more—each selected for its beauty, strength, and story.
Our kaarigars, skilled artisans who have been practicing this craft for 4–5 generations, use traditional hand tools to bring each piece to life. Their hands don’t just carve stone—they preserve history, shape elegance, and turn natural materials into timeless works of art.

Stone carving begins by selecting a stone and creating a clay/wax model, then copied to stone using calipers or a pointing machine. The artisan first removes large chunks with a pitching tool for a basic shape. Other tools then refine the figure. Polishing follows, often with sandpaper or sand cloth, and sometimes Emery stone for the final stage. This reveals the stone's true color and patterns. Iron or tin oxides may be used for a reflective finish.

Originating in 16th C. Rome, this art travelled East to India via Mughals, evolving a native style. It precisely cuts & sets precious/semi-precious stones in marble for elegant art. The Iconic Taj Mahal, in India constructed in 1653 with Pietra Dura inlay work on marble, still attracts tourists worldwide. Skilled artisans continue to keep this art alive by handcrafting stones.
